Fall Into Flawless: Your September Reset
As the leaves turn and the air shifts, your skin begins its quiet conversation with the season. This isn’t about trends—it’s about tending. About listening. About layering comfort into your daily ritual.
Why Fall Skincare Matters?
* Humidity drops, and with it, your skin’s natural moisture barrier needs extra support.
* Summer sun damage lingers—gentle exfoliation and barrier repair become key.
* Indoor heating can dehydrate and dull the complexion, making hydration a priority.
Transitioning your skincare isn’t trend-following—it’s tending. Experts recommend:
Switching to richer moisturizers—creams or ointments with petrolatum or hyaluronic acid to combat dry air. Nourishing deeply introducing richer textures - think balms, creams, and butters.
Gentle cleansing—ditch harsh scrubs and hot water; opt for pH-balanced cleansers, cleaning with kindness. Think - cream or oil cleansers that preserve your skin's microbiome.
Layering hydrating serums—look for sodium PCA and glycerin to keep skin plump and radiant. Humectants like glycerin followed by emollients and occlusives.
Exfoliating mindfully—to help moisturizers penetrate and renew post-summer skin - hyaluronic acid and niacinamide.
Don’t stop SPF: UVA rays are year-round guests, even behind cloudy skies.
And let's not forget the scent...yes, who doesn't love that comfy fragrance that only Fall brings. Although, this year, I am embarking on less traditional scents and Velutta has found it's forever home. Not quite Fall. Not quite Floral. Not all the way sweet. She's going to be a mix of a little bit of everything. Some pioneer professional smelling personal.
- Ok! Im feeling the need to explain my process here, bear with me. When I create a scent, i wait at least a day to let it all blend together. Then I make myself a perfume oil on a roll on 10ml vial (we are all familiar with those essential oils vials)... so, I use it on my pulse points and then every friend I meet, I stretch my arms and jokingly say, Hey smell this and tell me about it. Weird I know! Yes, I am that weirdo friend! lol But they are all used to me by now, after years of friendship. -
Anyways, let's go back to Velutta now, shall we? Those "pioneers" say, it's sweet without overpowering. Or it's floral, but in a good way. One said, it smelled clean and fresh but not soapy. Another said, she could see a non-traditional Fall scent. A couple said, no way this smells like Fall, where's the ginger and latte? I told them I didnt know about the ginger, but the latte was in my mug every morning :)
Let scent become part of your skincare ritual—a whisper of memory, a moment of grace.
I believe everyone should experience Velutta. It's powerhouse... creamy... dreamy... gliding
Powerhouse because it's infused with colloidal oats, green tea, and chamomile. And by the way, I have posts talking about those three in case you would like to learn a bit more of their role in skincare.
Creamy and gliding because when I formulated it, I wanted something creamier than a pump lotion but not as heavy as a butter. With Summer and butter melting and all, I wanted something that could heavily nourish my skin - I say mine, because everything I formulate I do it for myself first. If it's not good enough for me, it's not good enough for anyone - like a butter but at any time of the day like a lotion. Oh! And I really wanted to pipe it in the jar lol Go figure! So.... Velutta happened. It's silky and it glides. And it nourishes.
Dreamy because I am sooo loving this new scent. When I launched Velutta a few months ago, I decided to offer it with the Summer fragrances, just to make things easier. But I knew I would give her a forever fragrance home as soon as Summer was over. And I'm calling it Phoenix of Autumn. Because she's rising from the ashe's of Summer into Fall purposeful care carrying all the wonderful natural gems for our skin.
You’re not reacting to a trend—you’re honoring your skin’s rhythm.
Until next time,
Elaine
